Throne Of Glass Fancast

Hiya everyone!

I don’t know if you’ve heard (you probably have) but there’s some great news to be told in the Throne of Glass fandom 😀
Sarah J Maas announced that the bookseries has been optioned for a TV show !!!

So, for the occassion, I’ll be doing a blogpost about my fancast for Throne Of Glass. I only fancasted the major characters (those with their own POV) and I included Maeve and Arobynn as well because the people I linked those roles to have been in my mind ever since they came forward in the books.

Let the casting begin… ^^

For Celaena/Aelin I chose CARA DELEVIGNE.

I chose Cara because of her eyes. Since Aelin’s eye colour is a big deal in the books I really wanted someone who had the eyes right (without having to wear eye contacts) and thankfully Cara has fair hair as well. And anyone who’s seen The Suicide Squad can tell that Cara can be quite viscious and eviliscious (that’s not really a word but whateffs).

For Dorian it didn’t take me long to find someone. I picked LOGAN LERMAN.

Again, the eyes were important. In the books Dorian has brilliant saphire eyes which set him apart from the rest of his family. He looks more like his ancestor than he does his own parents. And Logan happens to have both the eyes and the haircolour down. Also, he looks good with a sword while mastering the youthfulness that Dorian has in book one.

Next was Chaol… who was…. a little harder. Not because there aren’t any actors out there who could play him but because he’s my fave and those are always hard to cast. But I managed to find someone who came close to the image in my head. For Chaol, I chose AUSTIN BUTLER.

Now.. he’s not perfect but I am curious to see what he would bring to Chaol… if he ever got the chance to play him.

Nehemia was also kind of hard to cast because there aren’t many actresses, that I know of, out there that come close to the imagination I have of Nehemia but I saw that a lot of people cast BIANCA LAWSON as Nehemia and I can agree with that link. So here she is:

As for Kaltain… her character wasn’t that huge in the books but her role is still vital to the story. Therefor I chose to add her to this fancast. Also, I have always had this actress in the back of my mind when it came to picturing Kaltain in my head. That actress is ADELAIDE KANE.

All the Reign fans out there know that Adelaide looks good in any Medieval dress and that she can be Queenly and bossy whenever she pleases it. Well… her role in Reign can but that shows how great Adelaide is at portraying a woman at court. I would very much like to see her as Kaltain.

At this point my fancast got a little more difficult. Aedion was next on the list and it took a long while to find anyone who came close to the Fae-male who has to look like his cousin. The same eyes, the same hair colour…. I know those things can be obtained with wigs and such but I wanted to keep it natural :p

Thankfully, I stumbled upon this beauty of a man who -in my mind- has most of the things a Fae male needs to have. I chose TRAVIS FIMMEL.

I’m so happy I found him 😀 He’s got the same eye colour as Cara -more or less- and has fair hair. I haven’t seen Vikings yet but by the looks of him I really should. I mean…. look at that body *insert heart-eyes*

And Rowan…. Oh. My. God…
Rowan was the hardest of them all. Even Chaol was easier to find. I just couldn’t find anyone who came close to the Rowan inside my head. Only after a throrough and extensive research did I find someone who came closer than everyone else I had found at that point and now that I’m writing this post, I’m feeling kind of great about the choice.
I don’t know if he acts. To be honest, I don’t know anything about this man but he looks kind of like Rowan so here he is; CHRISTOPHER MASON.

Jep…. I like him ;P

Up next is Lysandra. Unlike Rowan and Aedion, she was easy to do. It took me no longer than 5 minutes to find someone that was perfect for her, namely; PHOEBE TONKIN.

I knew her from her days in H2O but her acting in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals is what drew me to cast her as Lysandra.

Elide was a piece-of-cake as well. Like Kaltain’s character, I always had this actress in the back of my mind when it came to imagining Elide. To me Elide is this beauty with huge innocent eyes and this particular actress has the exact same facial features that I imagine Elide has. This actress is ASTRID BERGES-FRISBEY.

She’s perfect for the role ❤

Manon, however, took me quite a while to find. Not nearly as long as Rowan or Aedion… or even Chaol but still a long time. I needed someone that could be this wrathful woman with death in her eyes… So after searching for that right one for a while I finally stumbled upon DAKOTA FANNING.

This is based upon her acting skills in previous movies. Dakota can be one hell of a witch. The fact that she has whitish, blonde hair helps the case, too.

Meave was the easiest one of them all. I had this one down before I even began. Meave is no one other than the amazing EVA GREEN.
 
Eva Green is a favorite actress of mine and the minute Maeve was described in the books, she popped up in my head as Eva Green. I can’t even form an imagination of my own anymore. It’s that bad. Eva Green is the Meave in my head.

As for the King of Adarlan… I didn’t really know who to choose. I wanted to get the feel of him right. The fierceness of the character. And using my go-to actor for these kind of roles got a bit old so I wanted someone other than Alan Van Sprang (who is amazing as Valentine, by the way).
And thus I chose for RALPH FIENNES.

I chose him because he can become quite creepy (we’ve all seen Harry Potter, don’t even try to deny it) and fierce if he wants to. And as long as he hase those characteristics down in his acting, I can forgive the fact that he looks little like the picture in my head.

When it comes to my choice for Arobynn Hamel, I’m really excited to be honest. If there’s ever a chance he might get the part I’ll be partying like a rock-star because I really do think he’s perfect for the role. I really think AIDAN TURNER would make an excellent Arobynn.

I know there’s like… a minus 1000 % chance that he’ll ever play the role but GOD DARNIT I WANT IT TO HAPPEN.

Because Duke Perrington becomes a vital character to the story as well as Kaltain does, I wanted to cast him as well and I knew just who to pick.
STELLAN SKARSGARD.

I’ve seen Stellan in many movies and I must say, he acts the hell out of characters like Dukes, Ministers or pirates. Either way, he’s a great actor who can portray Perrington with ease.

And last but not least, my (new) bae Lorcan. Like Perrington, I knew who to pick right-of-the-bat. Since Lorcan became a bigger character is EoS I began to get a better image of him in my head and that image looks a lot like ZACH MCGOWAN.

Even with the beard I strangely find him to be exactly as the Lorcan in my head. I;ve only seen him in The 100 so I don’t know in what range he can act but I’m curious as hell to see what he would bring to Lorcan on TV.
